This past weekend, I went to Atlantic City for a Fall getaway weekend filled with great dinning, live entertainment, food festivals and great friends! When you think of Atlantic City, you may think of gambling, I’m here to tell you AC is so much more!
While in Atlantic City, I was able to literally eat my way around the city. One of my savor highlights included Cuba Libre, an award-winning Latin cuisine. The extensive menu makes it hard to narrow down a choice to just one, so I highly recommend the family style approach. You really cannot go wrong with anything on the menu, including the drink menu.
After dinner, there are so many nightlife options. We attended the Wanda Sykes show at the Borgata, leaving us to belly-laugh all night long. Two days later, I am still repeating her jokes and laughing to myself. Looking at Atlantic City’s calendar of events, I noticed Usher is coming to town next weekend, that’s a show you don’t want to miss! Their entertainment venues are absolutely amazing.
On day two, we attended a cooking class at Viking Cooking School in Harrahs Resort. Whether you are an extraordinary cook or a professional microwave-heater like myself, this class is for you. Let me tell you, this class was by far the highlight of my weekend. It was such a fun, hands on, interactive and fun experience! What a great date night or family activity. Not only did we learn step-by-step preparation for a complete Latin inspired meal, we also had a formal sit-down dinning experience. I’m not going to lie, I’m pretty quick on the knife thanks to the chef for the quick lesson.
Food, entertainment, and now to my favorite…SHOPPING!! Here in Atlantic City, shopping is not limited in the slightest. You can visit The Walk, Tanger Outlets, and The Pier Shops at Caesars.
Tanger has over 100 of your favorite brand name retailers, including but not limited to, H&M, J. Crew, Michael Kors, and Coach. Switching over to the Pier Shops at Caesars, you can score other high-end speciality shops such as Gucci & Louis Vutton.
For the main event: Street Eats! We were able to eat, drink, and mingle with Borgata’s star-studded lineup of culinary partners – Wolfgang Puck (we totally got a photo together, fan-girl moment, eeek), Bobby Flay, Geoffrey Zakarian, Michael Schulson, and Stephen Kalt. Featuring over 20 different stations of craft beer, small bites, and gourmet specialties, this event left no one with an empty stomach. I will admit I made a few stops at the Mac & Cheese booth!
Thanks to the DOAC team for hosting such a fabulous weekend! I was especially grateful to experience the savory side of Atlantic City – a must see destination for all East Coasters as well as anyone else fortunate enough to swing by!
